Traffic conditions along Interstate 55 in Jefferson County are expected to improve as the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) opens a new section of an existing roundabout. The roundabout, located at the southeast portion of the Interstate 55 and Route 67 interchange, will be accessible to traffic between the northbound interstate and northbound Route 67 starting at 3 p.m. today.
According to MoDOT, "Northbound interstate traffic exiting at Festus (Exit 174) to head north on Route 67 will use the new roundabout." Meanwhile, "Northbound interstate traffic heading south on Route 67 will continue to use the existing loop ramp."
For those seeking real-time updates on roadway weather conditions or traffic information, MoDOT advises visiting their website for details. They also note that all work is subject to change based on weather conditions.
Motorists should remain aware of ongoing closures throughout St. Louis City and County, as well as Jefferson County. These include various lane closures on I-55, I-270, and other routes with expected completion by early or late 2025.
Specific daily road closures have been scheduled from January 30 through February 5. These involve lanes closed at different times across several major roads including I-44, I-64, and others in both St. Louis City and County.
For instance, on Thursday, January 30th:
- One lane will be closed eastbound on the ramp to northbound I-55 from I-44 in St. Louis City.
- In St. Louis County, one right lane westbound and the ramp from Lewis Road will be closed at the Meramec River.
These planned closures continue through Wednesday, February 5th.
