U.S. Senator Josh Hawley has reintroduced the Protecting Our Kids from Child Abuse Act, a legislative effort aimed at allowing individuals who underwent gender-transition procedures as minors to file lawsuits against those involved in these procedures. This move comes after President Trump issued an Executive Order calling for such legislation.

Senator Hawley expressed his support for the Executive Order by stating, "Our children should no longer suffer from irreversible and dangerous child mutilation procedures, which the Biden administration enabled and promoted. I welcome President Trump’s strong action to reverse this child abuse and look forward to working with his administration to advance legislation that protects our kids."

The recent Executive Order titled “Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation” seeks to halt federal backing of the gender transition industry concerning minors. It instructs the Attorney General to collaborate with Congress on creating laws that would establish a private right of action for affected individuals, accompanied by an extended statute of limitations. Senator Hawley's bill aligns with this directive.

Key components of the Protecting Our Kids from Child Abuse Act include establishing a private right of action for those harmed by gender-transition procedures during their childhood. It also proposes holding liable various parties including pediatric gender clinics where procedures occurred, medical practitioners involved, and affiliated universities or hospitals.

Additionally, the bill aims to cease federal funding for any pediatric gender clinic, university, or hospital linked to such clinics and any gender-transition procedure performed on minors.
