A vehicle collision has led to significant damage to the traffic signal mast arm at the intersection of U.S. Route 169, known as Belt Highway, and Karnes Road in St. Joseph, Missouri. As a result, access between Karnes Road and Belt Highway is currently restricted. However, traffic on the Belt Highway remains open for both directions.

There is no estimated time for completing repairs or restoring access between Karnes Road and Belt Highway.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) urges drivers to "work with us by always buckling up, keeping your phone down, slowing down and moving over in work zones." They recommend checking traveler.modot.org for potential work zones that may be encountered.

MoDOT also offers updates on projects and work zones via email through their eUpdates service. Further information is available around the clock by calling 888-ASK-MODOT (275-6636) or connecting through social media platforms such as Facebook, X, and Instagram.

"Take the Challenge! Buckle Up/Phone Down" encourages safe driving practices among motorists.
