U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) announced that the Senate has passed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY2026 NDAA), which includes several provisions that benefit Missouri.
“Tonight the Senate has adopted my legislation protecting Ft. Leonard Wood’s vital hospital from being downgraded or closed. This is a huge win for Missouri. The defense bill passed tonight also enacts President Trump’s national security priorities, gives our troops a 3.8% pay raise, and makes needed defense investments across Missouri,” said Senator Hawley.
The FY2026 NDAA includes language that safeguards the hospital at Ft. Leonard Wood from closure or reduction in services. The legislation also reauthorizes Senator Hawley’s STOIC Act, which allocates funding to support mental health and family services for law enforcement.
Other measures in the bill provide $33.6 million for construction projects at Whiteman Air Force Base and $6.5 million for projects at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Additionally, the act restricts the divestment of A-10 aircraft operated by Whiteman AFB’s 442nd Fighter Wing and National Guard C-130 aircraft used by the Missouri Air National Guard’s 139th Airlift Wing.
