The Saint Louis Science Center has launched a new initiative in collaboration with BJC HealthCare to highlight the impact of St. Louis in medical innovation. This initiative includes public exhibits, events, and a documentary film titled "Superhuman Body."
Bobby Sanderson, Saint Louis Science Center's Chief Institutional Advancement Officer, emphasized the community-wide benefits of the collaboration, stating, "At the Science Center, we're committed to promoting innovation in STEM and highlighting the ways that St. Louisans have contributed to that advancement."
The Science Center is showcasing the "Superhuman Body" documentary, narrated by Matthew McConaughey, at its OMNIMAX Theater. The film narrates the story of researchers, scientists, and individuals driving medical innovations. Tickets are available for $11.50, though free for members of the Science Center.
Another component of the initiative is "SciFest," offering free full-day events with opportunities to connect with STEM professionals. The next SciFest, themed "The Great Outdoors," is planned for May 10, with additional events scheduled for later in the year.
The Science Center's Life Sciences Gallery also plays a role in this collaborative effort. Through interactive displays, it explores how innovations in modern medicine often draw inspiration from nature.
Dr. Christopher Miller, Chief Clinical Officer of BJC HealthCare, said, "BJC HealthCare’s commitment to wellness extends beyond our hospital campuses, clinics, and offices directly into the communities we serve with education and resources to inspire the next generation of health scientists."
This initiative represents a substantial educational and community engagement commitment for both the Saint Louis Science Center and BJC HealthCare, reflecting their dedication to STEM education and innovation in healthcare.
In addition, the Saint Louis Science Center offers free admission and is open from Thursdays to Mondays for those interested in exploring their various exhibits and learning opportunities.
