USA Today has announced that the Saint Louis Science Center has achieved top rankings in the 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. The center was recognized in three categories: Best Planetarium, Best Free Museum, and Best Science Museum. Notably, it secured the #1 spot for Best Planetarium, #2 for Best Free Museum, and #5 for Best Science Museum. This is the fourth consecutive year that the center has been placed among the Top Five in these awards.
Todd Bastean, President and CEO of the Saint Louis Science Center, expressed pride in this achievement. “As one of the few free science-based museums in the United States, our team takes great pride in being recognized so highly and so consistently by travel and tourism experts and those who recognize that the Science Center is truly special,” he said. He added that they strive to offer unique experiences both within the center and throughout their community.
The 10Best Awards involve a nomination process where 20 entities are selected for each category by a panel including USA Today editors and other contributors. Voting is then opened to readers for a month.
The James S. McDonnell Planetarium at the Science Center has been a significant attraction since its opening in 1963. It offers daily star shows and telescope viewings, providing guests with opportunities to learn about space history and engage with interactive activities related to space exploration.
The Science Center’s recognition as a top free museum highlights its role as part of St. Louis’ Zoo Museum District. It offers ten galleries featuring diverse topics such as life science, paleontology, agriculture, space travel, engineering, and gaming.
