U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey has sentenced Clifford Pankey, a 42-year-old convicted felon, to 15 years in prison. The sentencing took place on Friday after Pankey pleaded guilty in July to charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and distributing methamphetamine.

Pankey admitted to making meth and possessing numerous firearms as a convicted felon, including stolen and defaced weapons. Law enforcement officers conducted a court-approved search of his home south of St. James on January 26, 2023. During the search, Pankey confessed to having meth and guns.

Officers discovered several firearms at the residence: a .22 caliber revolver with a partially defaced serial number, a defaced Ruger .380 caliber semiautomatic pistol, three rifles, four pistols, and a shotgun. Additionally, they found stolen property and approximately 230 grams of methamphetamine that Pankey intended to sell.

The investigation was carried out by the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany Becker prosecuted the case.
