Tips For Medicine Shortage | Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services
Nationally, we are experiencing higher than usual levels of RSV, influenza, rhinovirus and enterovirus, especially among children. As a result, medical providers and patients are currently being impacted by some drug shortages, like amoxicillin.
Drug shortages tend to impact us nationally and not only at the state level since they most often occur due to manufacturer or supply issues. When getting a prescription, ask your health care provider if they are aware of a product shortage. If you can’t find your prescription or over-the-counter medication at your local pharmacy or store, you can check other pharmacies or ask your health care provider or pharmacist if there is an alternative to the medicine you’re looking for.
