House Republicans called for bipartisan policymaking following the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s budget measure markup.

Republican Leader Sam Graves said it “was rushed to a vote without any comprehension of what effects the previously approved transportation sector funding has had, before significant portions of previous funding has even gotten into the hands of its intended recipients, and with no discussions with Republicans of how best to target any new funding,” the republicans-transportation.house.gov/news/ reported.

“The President promised unity and bipartisanship,” Graves also urged on Twitter. “It’s time for the House majority to follow through on that promise.”

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Republicans released a memo stating their “minority dissenting views.”

“Other COVID relief packages have come together with bipartisan development and support, and we are truly disappointed that we cannot continue working together in the same manner due to the partisan path directed by the Speaker of the House,” the memo stated.

The GOP underlines that “During this time of great uncertainty for Americans, we should be providing sound budget policy targeted precisely where funds are necessary.”

According to Graves, their side of the aisle has proposed over 50 amendments but was rebuffed.

“Republicans stood prepared to debate and negotiate budget priorities in good faith. However, in the House of Representatives, Speaker Pelosi decided to begin this Congress by ignoring the input of more than 200 House members and moving forward with a hastily drafted multitrillion-dollar spending measure,” the memo said.
