The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced a resurfacing project for Interstate 29, which will commence on March 5. Herzog Contracting Corp. has been contracted to handle the work, which will cover the stretch from U.S. Route 59 in Holt County to Business 71 just north of St. Joseph.
The construction will start with the southbound passing lane, where crews will remove and replace pavement in two-mile sections. Following the completion of roadway paving, ramps along this portion of the interstate will also be repaved.
During construction, traffic on I-29 will be limited to one lane starting with the southbound lanes before switching to the northbound lanes. Work is scheduled from Monday through Saturday during daylight hours and is expected to conclude by July 2025.
MoDOT advises that all work is weather-dependent and schedules may change accordingly. They urge drivers to "work with us by always buckling up, keeping your phones down, slowing down and moving over in work zones." Drivers are encouraged to check current work zones at traveler.modot.org.
