The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced changes to its planned bridge projects in Maries County following public feedback. Initially, the department intended to rehabilitate two bridges on Missouri Route 42 and two on Maries County Route AA with a completion target of 2025. Concerns were raised about potential simultaneous closures of these routes.

In response, MoDOT revised its plans to include an additional bridge project on County Road 213, consolidating all five bridges into one contract package for bidding in May 2025. The new plan ensures that none of the bridges will close at the same time. Construction is expected to start as early as July 2025 and continue into 2026, with two out of three routes remaining open during this period.

MoDOT encourages motorists to cooperate by "buckling up, putting your phone down, obeying all traffic signs," and exercising caution in work zones. They also advise drivers to remain vigilant and avoid distractions while navigating through construction areas.
