Earlier today, the St. Louis Board of Aldermen approved a significant redevelopment initiative by Washington University. The $95 million project involves transforming the former Goodwill Building located in the Cortex Innovation District. This redevelopment effort will aid C2N, a company focused on blood-based diagnostic tools for Alzheimer's disease, to remain in St. Louis and expand its operations with an additional 170 jobs.
The legislative package was supported by Greater St. Louis, Inc., which collaborated with various partners including Cortex, Washington University, the St. Louis Development Corporation (SLDC), and the Missouri Department of Economic Development to promote these incentives at the Board of Aldermen.
Maggie Kost, Chief Business Attraction Officer at Greater St. Louis, Inc., expressed her support following the board's decision: "We applaud the Board of Aldermen for supporting Washington University’s $95 million redevelopment of the former Goodwill Building in the Cortex Innovation District."
Kost further highlighted C2N's role in reinforcing St. Louis as a center for neuroscience research: "This vote recognizes C2N’s commitment to expand in St. Louis, showcasing our growing capacity as a global hub of neuroscience research. Not only does their investment enhance a key industry cluster with great potential, but it spurs growth and development in the core of our metro. We’re excited to see groundbreaking research emerge from this new expansion."
