Attorney for Donald Trump Will Scharf said the trial against the former President is “deeply rigged” and is being “presided over by a deeply and irretrievably biased judge." He made the comments during an interview with Fox News.

“This is a deeply rigged trial that’s being presided over by a deeply and irretrievably biased judge,” Scharf said. “President Trump, I believe, did nothing wrong, I think the evidence shows that. I think any fair jury in America would see this trial for what it is, which is a political show trial.”

Former President Donald Trump was found guilty on 34 felony charges by a jury after nine hours of deliberation. A sentencing date was set for July 11.

Scharf serves as a personal attorney for Trump. Under Trump, he helped Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Barrett earn confirmations to the Supreme Court. He was previously a federal violent crime prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri, where he led over one hundred federal felony prosecutions against violent criminals.

A graduate of Princeton University, Scharf earned his law degree from Harvard Law School. While attending Harvard, he served as President of the Federalist Society.

Scharf is running for Missouri Attorney General. He will be on the ballot alongside fellow Republican Andrew Bailey on the August 6 Republican Primary election, and the winner will run against Democrat Elad Gross during the General Election on November 5.
