ST. LOUIS – U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey on Tuesday sentenced a convicted felon who was caught with six kilograms of marijuana and two guns to 10 years in prison.
Jamie Jeffrey, 47, of Eureka, California, was driving a 2008 Bentley when St. Louis County Police officers discovered the illicit items in his possession. According to reports, Jeffrey had a box containing bags of marijuana weighing approximately six kilograms, two pistols, and $1,030 in cash in his pants pocket at the time of the arrest.
Jeffrey confessed to authorities that the marijuana found in his possession was part of a larger quantity obtained through a trade in California. He admitted to trading some of the marijuana for the firearms, despite being a convicted felon prohibited from owning guns. In July, Jeffrey pleaded guilty to the charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The case was investigated by the St. Louis County Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Goeke handling the prosecution.
The sentencing of Jamie Jeffrey falls within the framework of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by fostering collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The initiative, launched by the Department on May 26, 2021, focuses on building trust within communities, supporting violence prevention organizations, establishing targeted enforcement priorities, and evaluating outcomes.
