The Senate Appropriations Committee has formulated a comprehensive $50 billion spending plan for the state of Missouri. This proposed budget encompasses funding for crucial business initiatives supported by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry, such as enhancements to Interstate 44 and onshore semiconductor manufacturing.
Senator Lincoln Hough of Springfield, who leads the Senate Appropriations Committee, has demonstrated a dedication to advancing Missouri’s future by emphasizing education, infrastructure, and workforce development.
In response to the proposed budget, Kara Corches, the vice president of governmental affairs at the Missouri Chamber, commended Sen. Hough and the committee members. She stated, "We applaud Sen. Hough and the committee members for prioritizing issues that matter to employers – putting more people to work, investing in infrastructure, enhancing public safety and maximizing Missouri’s position as a leader in technology manufacturing."
Corches further urged the Senate to promptly approve the budget bills to benefit Missouri workers and employers. The upcoming week is anticipated to witness debates on the budget bills by the full Senate following the committee's deliberations.
Earlier this month, the House lawmakers passed their version of the budget on April 4. As the constitutional deadline of May 10 approaches, legislators from both chambers will need to collaborate and reconcile their differences to finalize the state budget for Missouri's fiscal future.
