4.5% of citizens in Missouri unemployed in 2021

Missouri's unemployment rate hit 4.5% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That's 138,820 people out of the 6,141,534 living in Missouri at the time, according to data U.S. Census Bureau data obtained on Oct. 26, 2023.

The unemployment rate in Missouri has remained fairly stable compared to the 4.5% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Missouri was less than the national unemployment rate of 5.5%.

Of the 2,965,375 people who had a job during that time, 19,409 were employed in the Armed Forces and 2,945,966 belonged to the civilian labor force.
