Wal-Mart was quick to tweet back at U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) after he announced his intention to challenge the Electoral College.
“Go ahead. Get your 2 hour debate,” Wal-Mart said on Twitter.
The announcement came after Hawley became the first U.S. senator to announce a public challenge to the Jan. 6 Electoral College certification.
“Thanks @Walmart for your insulting condescension. Now that you’ve insulted 75 millions Americans, will you at least apologize for using slave labor,” Hawley tweeted back at the world’s largest retailer.
Wal-Mart has a strong connection to the state. Its founder Sam Walton started the chain in northern Arkansas. MIssouri was the first state where Wal-Mart expanded.
Walton family scions Nancy Walton Laurie and Ann Walton Kroenke - who inherited a combined $9 billion - live in Columbia.
Supporters of Donald Trump have noted they are gearing up to prevent Vice President Mike Pence from registering the vote as well.
“Millions of voters concerned about election integrity deserve to be heard. I will object on January 6 on their behalf,” Hawley said in his initial tweet.
