Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway has announced felony charges against Jeffrey K. Griffin, who operates Griffin Quality Construction, for allegedly defrauding homeowners in Jackson County. Griffin is charged with four counts of Deceptive Business Practice and four counts of felony theft. Authorities allege that between August 2022 and October 2023, Griffin accepted deposits for stair repair services from Missouri residents but failed to provide the promised materials or complete the work. The financial losses reported by victims exceed $15,000.
"Cases like this show the importance of holding dishonest contractors accountable," said Attorney General Hanaway. "When Missourians pay for work to be done on their homes, they deserve to receive what they were promised. My Office will continue to protect consumers from fraud, deception, and financial exploitation wherever it occurs."
The Attorney General’s Office encourages anyone who believes they may have been defrauded by Griffin Quality Construction or Jeffrey K. Griffin to contact its Consumer Protection Section at 800-392-8222 or to file a complaint online at ago.mo.gov.
Hanaway emphasized that these charges are allegations and reminded the public that Griffin is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
