A Mexican national has been sentenced in federal court for unlawfully reentering the United States after being deported following a conviction for an aggravated felony.
Marcos Martinez-Jimenez, 42, pleaded guilty to unlawful reentry after deportation for an aggravated felony. U.S. District Judge Greg Kays sentenced him to 25 months in prison on September 17, 2025.
Court documents show that Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement & Removal Operations arrested Martinez-Jimenez during a vehicle stop in Kansas City, Missouri, on February 11, 2025. Martinez-Jimenez had previously been convicted of Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child Under 14 in Johnson County, Kansas, in 2007. He was sentenced to 61 months’ imprisonment and was deported to Mexico in 2011 after completing his sentence.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brent Venneman and investigated by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations from the Chicago Field Office and Kansas City Sub-Office.
“This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).”
