U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) has introduced a Senate Resolution to honor airmen and sailors involved in Operation Midnight Hammer, a recent military action targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities. The resolution recognizes the efforts of Missouri B-2 bomber pilots and other servicemembers for their participation in what officials have described as a highly successful operation.
During the August State work period, Senator Schmitt visited Whiteman Air Force Base to meet with those who took part in the mission. According to the statement, the pilots directly involved in the operation were not pictured during this visit.
“Operation Midnight Hammer was a successful precision strike that decimated Iran’s nuclear ambitions, demonstrated the unparalleled capabilities of our military, and stands as a testament to the competence and bravery of the airmen at Whiteman Air Force Base and our American sailors. These brave men and women are heroes who deserve full recognition for their actions, which is why I am proud to introduce this resolution to honor their service and success,” said Senator Schmitt.
The resolution has received support from several co-sponsors in the Senate: Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Katie Britt (R-AL), Ted Budd (R-NC), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), David McCormick (R-PA), James Risch (R-ID), Rick Scott (R-FL), Tim Sheehy (R-MT), and Dan Sullivan (R-AK).
