A federal grand jury has indicted Josue Sabillon, 40, of Chicago, Illinois, for allegedly transporting over three kilograms of methamphetamine on a train passing through Kansas City. The indictment charges Sabillon with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and replaces a previous criminal complaint filed on September 8, 2025.
According to an affidavit related to the original complaint, Sabillon was traveling as a passenger on a train from Los Angeles to Chicago on September 5, 2025. Law enforcement officials reported that a narcotics detection canine alerted officers to a duffle bag in Sabillon’s possession. A search of the bag led officers to discover approximately 3.567 kilograms of methamphetamine along with identification documents linked to Sabillon.
"The charges contained in this indictment are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence."
Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Siegele is prosecuting the case. The investigation involved the Drug Enforcement Administration, Kansas City Missouri Police Department, and the Missouri Western Interdiction and Narcotics Task Force.
This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice that aims to address illegal immigration and combat cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime. The operation coordinates resources from programs such as Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
