Two men have pleaded guilty to kidnapping a toddler in St. Louis County, Missouri, as part of an effort to recover firearms they believed had been stolen from them.
Kendal “KD” White, 20, of St. Charles, entered his plea on Monday in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to one count of kidnapping. Cam’Ron Henderson, 20, of St. Louis, pleaded guilty to the same charge on August 11.
According to court documents and the plea agreement, White suspected that the father of the two-year-old victim had taken guns and other property from him. On August 10, 2023, White and Henderson—along with others—searched for the man and arrived at the apartment of the child’s mother in St. Louis County. After receiving no response at the door, both men forced entry while armed.
Inside the apartment, when it became clear that their intended target was not present, White demanded that the mother hand over her daughter. She refused; White then struck her multiple times in the head with his firearm before taking the toddler from her arms. The two men left with the child while the mother contacted police.
Authorities issued an Amber Alert describing a Hyundai Elantra connected to the case. After learning about this alert and realizing their vehicle had been identified, White paid three women to return the child safely to her uncle’s home.
The federal kidnapping charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison. Sentencing for Henderson is set for December 2; White is scheduled for sentencing on January 27.
The investigation was conducted by the St. Louis County Police Department and FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Szczucinski is prosecuting.
