Two men from the St. Louis area have been indicted in connection with two carjackings that occurred in December, according to federal court records. Two women have also been charged with assisting in one of the incidents.
Davion Pruitt, 18, of St. Louis, and Tywone Calvin, 19, of Pine Lawn, were indicted on July 30 in U.S. District Court in St. Louis. Both face two counts of carjacking and two counts of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. Mya Reagan, 19, and Evanna Myers-Taylor, 20, are charged with one count each of carjacking and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
Pruitt, Calvin and Reagan appeared in court Thursday and pleaded not guilty.
The indictment alleges that all four individuals participated in an armed carjacking involving a 2011 Cadillac Escalade on December 23, 2024. It further claims that Pruitt and Calvin stole a 2017 Chevrolet Trax three days later.
Court motions seeking to keep Pruitt and Calvin detained until trial state that the first victim met a woman through Facebook before arranging to pick her up using his SUV. The woman reportedly asked him to stop at a gas station for cigars; there, two armed men allegedly confronted him and demanded his keys. After authorities released a photo of the woman involved, police identified Reagan as the woman from the incident and Myers-Taylor as another passenger.
According to prosecutors' filings, the second carjacking victim was alerted by his key fob about suspicious activity with his vehicle. When he went outside to investigate, he encountered two armed men who took his keys, phone and SUV. Police later located the stolen Chevrolet Trax with Pruitt and Calvin inside it. Officers arrested Calvin after he crashed while attempting to flee law enforcement; Pruitt was taken into custody on February 14, 2025.
Authorities stress that "Charges set forth in an indictment are merely accusations and do not constitute proof of guilt. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty."
The case is being investigated by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, St. Louis County Police Department and FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Torrie J. Schneider is prosecuting.
