Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has announced that Louis J. Capozzi III will be appointed as the new Solicitor General of Missouri. This appointment is contingent upon the confirmation of current Solicitor General Josh Divine to a federal judgeship.

Bailey expressed confidence in Capozzi's abilities, stating, “I am proud to appoint Louis Capozzi as Missouri’s next Solicitor General. Lou is a brilliant legal mind, a proven defender of constitutional government, and a staunch advocate for the rule of law, making him the right person to carry our mission forward as our next Solicitor General. He will be a powerful voice for the people of Missouri in our highest Courts.”

Capozzi's recent experience includes his role at Jones Day where he was involved in significant constitutional and administrative-law cases. His work included leading litigation teams and serving as first chair in high-profile trials such as one on behalf of the Republican National Committee.

In addition to his litigation work, Capozzi has been active in academia as an adjunct law professor at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. His academic contributions have been recognized by various courts and legal journals.

Before joining private practice, Capozzi served prestigious clerkships with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch and Judges J. Harvie Wilkinson and Anthony Scirica at U.S. Courts of Appeals.
