Tornado recovery efforts continue with resource events and assistance programs

The Urban League, along with its partners, is organizing a large-scale distribution event for food, toiletries, and other resources. This event will take place on Saturday, June 21, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Urban League Headquarters located at 1408 North Kingshighway.

Action St. Louis/The People’s Response has announced new hours and a location change for their operations. They will be accepting donations until June 28 at Kingdom Church, situated at 4112 West Florissant Avenue. The facility will operate from Tuesday to Thursday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

A new materials drop-off point has been established at 3200 South Kingshighway near Home Depot, open from 8 a.m. to noon for donations of building supplies, non-perishable food items, and personal care products.

The City of St. Louis’ Disaster Assistance Center is operational inside Chaifetz Arena for tornado-affected residents seeking guidance and resources related to recovery efforts. The center is open from June 16 through June 18 and June 23 through June 26 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

FEMA assistance is now available for those impacted by the storm, with St. Louis Public Radio offering guidance on navigating the application process.

InvestSTL has introduced the Northside Resilience Fund aimed at providing direct cash assistance to families in North St. Louis affected by the tornado.

Volunteers are being coordinated by United Way of Greater St. Louis Volunteer Center in partnership with community organizations and local government entities.

For financial contributions toward relief efforts, donations can be made to both the City of St. Louis Tornado Response Fund and United Way of Greater St. Louis Severe Storm/Tornado Relief Fund.

Businesses affected by the storm can fill out an assessment form via the St. Louis Development Corporation to communicate their needs for support during this time.
