Andrew Bailey, Missouri Attorney General | Attorney General Andrew Bailey
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has taken the lead in a 21-state coalition supporting a budget resolution amendment endorsed by President Donald Trump. On April 8, 2025, the coalition sent a letter to President Trump commending the Senate amendment to the House Budget Resolution, which they view as a pivotal measure for advancing the America First agenda.
Attorney General Bailey stated, "President Trump has kept his promises to the American people, and now it's time for Congress to do the same." He expressed the coalition's belief that the Senate's amendment is fundamental for significant change, helping to secure the border, control spending, and reestablish energy independence in America.
The coalition's letter underscores the importance of the Senate amendment in facilitating a reconciliation bill aimed at solidifying main elements of President Trump's policy framework. It points to goals such as extending tax benefits for the working population, overturning the energy policies from President Biden, and addressing security concerns at the southern border.
The letter asserts, "We are on your side in supporting the Senate amendment to the House budget resolution because we know that failure cannot be an option. The Democrats’ open border policies created a deadly flood of illegal immigrants in all our states. Inflation and punishing energy regulations have siphoned money from the pocketbooks of families."
Lawmakers are urged by the coalition to finalize the reconciliation bill, with the budget resolution serving as a tool to institutionalize America First policies.
Besides Missouri, the attorneys general from the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia also signed the letter.
