The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced a public meeting to discuss the upcoming construction project on Missouri Route 125 over I-44 in Strafford. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 3, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Strafford, located at 400 S Madison St. It will be an informal session where attendees can come and go as they please between the specified times to learn about the project and ask questions.
The project aims to improve intersections along Missouri Route 125 with significant changes including the construction of a dog-bone roundabout interchange at I-44, a roundabout at Route 125 and Chestnut Street, and installation of a traffic signal at Route 125 and Greene County Route OO. Additionally, there will be road widening to three lanes with new sidewalks between Washington Avenue and Route OO.
For those unable to attend the meeting in person, exhibits and detailed project information will be available online at www.modot.org/southwest. MoDOT’s Southwest District Office can also be contacted at 417.895.7600 for assistance or additional information.
Traffic impacts during construction include shifts on Route 125 at I-44 and Chestnut Street, narrowed lanes between Washington Avenue and Route OO, and temporary closures on Olive Street for pipe replacement work. Motorists should anticipate delays during peak traffic hours as there will be no signed detour routes; drivers are advised to find alternate paths.
The construction contract has been awarded to Hartman & Company Inc., based in Springfield, with an estimated cost of $6.2 million. The project's completion is targeted for May 22, 2026.
