Today, during a Senate Judiciary Nomination hearing, U.S. Senator Josh Hawley from Missouri questioned Gail Slater, nominated by President Trump for the role of Assistant Attorney General for the Antitrust Division at the Department of Justice. The questioning primarily focused on antitrust enforcement related to Big Tech and the future implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Senator Hawley expressed his concerns regarding AI and monopoly power, stating: “I am extremely concerned about what the emergence of AI and monopoly power in AI will mean for American consumers.”

He emphasized the importance of antitrust enforcement by adding: “We have got to give power back to individual Americans to protect their rights. Antitrust enforcement by the U.S. government is a critical part of that.”
