U.S. District Judge John A. Ross has sentenced a St. Louis man to one year and one day in prison for embezzling funds from his employer. The individual, Stephen Patrick Higgins, aged 32, was also ordered to repay $100,485 to both his former employer and an insurance company.

Higgins, who worked as a sales engineer at a company in St. Louis County, admitted to using his company credit card for personal expenses on several occasions. He pleaded guilty in July to one count of wire fraud.

The investigation into the case was conducted by the U.S. Secret Service and the Chesterfield Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Roy led the prosecution.
