The University of Missouri has announced its 2024 Welcome Week events, a series of activities for new students occurring the week before classes commence. The events are scheduled from August 14 to August 18 and include several traditions and activities open to media representatives and the public.

From August 14 to August 18, the Jesse Hall dome will be lit gold every night. On August 14 and 15, students will move into their residence halls across campus. Media representatives interested in covering these move-in days should contact MU News and Info at newsandinfo@missouri.edu for additional information.

On Wednesday, August 14, from 7 to 9 p.m., new students can attend "First Come, First Served" at Carnahan Quadrangle. This event features ice cream treats and lawn games.

Thursday, August 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., is "International Field Day" at Kuhlman Court. This event includes games, arts and crafts, and information about Mizzou Study Abroad programs among other international services.

The official kickoff event for Welcome Week is "First Roar," which takes place on Thursday, August 15, from 8 to 10 p.m. at Memorial Stadium (rain location: Mizzou Arena). Students will receive a free First Roar shirt and participate in various Mizzou traditions.

On Friday, August 16, Academic Day Open Houses will be held across campus where students can explore different majors or schools within the university.

From 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, incoming students can join "Paint the M" at Faurot Field—a tradition dating back to 1927.

Later that evening from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., there will be a Midnight BBQ on Rollins Street (rain location: MizzouRec), featuring BBQ treats and inflatables along with a large dance party.

Saturday evening on August 17 from 8 to 11 p.m., students can watch “Zootopia” during "Flick on Faurot" at Faurot Field (rain location: Jesse Auditorium) with an opportunity to partake in the tradition of “kissing the fifty.”

Finally, on Sunday evening from 6 to7 p.m., new students will participate in Tiger Walk through Francis Quadrangle towards Jesse Hall symbolizing their entrance into Mizzou life. President Mun Choi and Marching Mizzou will also be present for this concluding event of Welcome Week.
