University of Missouri graduates are proving to be well-prepared for success as they transition into their post-college endeavors. According to a recent career outcomes survey, more than 95% of recent MU graduates have either found employment, continued their education, joined the military, or started volunteer service within six months of graduation. This impressive statistic has not gone unnoticed, with a 14% increase in applications for enrollment at MU in 2024 compared to the previous year.
President of the University of Missouri, Mun Choi, highlighted the university's commitment to providing students with a comprehensive education, stating, "Students at Mizzou learn from world-class faculty, conduct research, enjoy SEC sports and participate in many activities including fraternity and sorority life for a well-rounded education and development." Choi emphasized that the outstanding career outcomes reflect MU's dedication to preparing students to make a positive impact on society.
The success of MU graduates is further exemplified by the university's recognition on various platforms. MU is attracting high-achieving students, with an increase in the percentage of incoming students ranking in the top 10% of their high school graduating class. Additionally, Mizzou was ranked No. 13 among all public universities on Time magazine’s Best Colleges for Future Leaders list and No. 7 Best Value among all flagship universities by U.S. News & World Report.
Jim Spain, vice provost for undergraduate studies at MU, expressed pride in the university's ability to equip students for life after college, stating, "Our alumni are changing the world every day, and out of all the benefits of attending college at MU, the one pride point we hear from our students more than any other at graduation is that they feel prepared and equipped for life after college."
The career outcomes survey, conducted in partnership with the National Association of Colleges and Employers, revealed that MU graduates of the class of 2023 have been hired by a diverse range of employers, including Fortune 100 companies and small businesses. These graduates have also been accepted into institutions worldwide and are making an impact in various states and countries.
Highlighting the individual success stories of MU graduates, Kendall Feist, a mechanical engineering graduate, is now working as an aerospace engineer at NASA. Savannah Gonzales, a speech, language, and hearing sciences graduate, is pursuing further studies in speech language pathology at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Luke Pfitzinger, a nursing graduate, has begun his career as a nurse in the MU Health Care Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
