There were seven employees of the Department of Revenue in Missouri who earned $100,000 or more in 2021, according to data compiled by the Missouri Accountability Portal.

May E. Scheve-Reardon was the highest paid employee of the Department of Revenue with an annual salary of $127,595.

The highest salary was $133,250 in 2020.

A report from members of the Federal Salary Council argued the pay structures within the U.S. government are skewed and federal workers are overpaid.

Downsizing the Federal Government, a project advocating for smaller government in the face of rising deficits, argued more than 2 million federal employees earned on average $30,000 more than private-sector employees in similar fields and have more generous benefit packages.
