Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-04) joins fellow Republicans Debbie Lesko and John Katko in releasing statements declaring their opposition to the latest COVID-19 relief bill.
In her statement, she criticized asking for another huge amount in battling the pandemic when there’s still $1 trillion left from the previous COVID-19 relief packages. She said that spending taxpayers’ money recklessly will only set the country back several years financially and it won’t do anything to help the nation get back on its feet.
She also criticized House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for inserting in the bill funding priorities that seem to be her pet projects. Hartzler referred to the $112 million going to the Silicon Valley tunnel project, the $135 million going to the National Endowment for the Humanities, the $200 million going to the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the $12 billion going to foreign aid.
Hartzler said that with the number of infected people going down it’s not wise to ask for more than a $1 trillion to fund the fight against the pandemic. She said the huge amount that the Democrats are asking for will only bury the nation more in debt.
