Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4), a teacher for more than 10 years, said that President Joe Biden’s plan for reopening schools is a failure.

“Having only 51% of our schools reopen for as little as one day a week is not a success,” Hartzler said. “We should be working to safely get all of our children back to full-time, in-person learning. As a former teacher, I give President Biden's plan an F.”

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that Biden intends to safely reopen a majority of K-8 schools in his first 100 days in office.

“His goal that he set is to have the majority of schools, so more than 50 percent, open by day 100 of his presidency and that means some teaching in classrooms,” Psaki said.

“So at least one day a week, hopefully, it’s more, and obviously it is as much as is safe in each school and local school district,” she added.

Psaki further explained that the president wanted the educators to teach “at least one day a week in the majority of schools by day 100,” The New York Post reported.

The president’s plan is contrary to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky’s statement that “There is increasing data to suggest that schools can safely reopen."
