The University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s tennis team clinched a place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament after defeating Maryville 7-0 at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis on April 18.

This result is significant for UMSL, as it ensures their participation in the upcoming conference tournament and reflects their strong performance this season.

UMSL took an early lead by winning all three doubles matches. Hannah Tse and Morgan Lint defeated Isabella Alvarez and Nazil Saka 6-2, Aleksandra Lopez and Millie Wileman overcame Grace Brown and Luana Luersen 6-4, while Anna Favaron and Lauren Sweeney edged out Maria Mateos and Mira Vasileva in a tiebreaker, finishing 7-6 (7-3).

In singles play, Lint started with a straight sets victory over Mateos (6-1, 6-4). Lopez followed with a close win against Saka (6-4, 7-6 [7-5]), while Tse secured the decisive match by beating Alvarez in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 6-4). Wileman came from behind to defeat Vasileva (4-6, 7-6 [7–3], 6–1), Favaron won against Brown (6–3, 6–3), and Giuliana Cunza completed the sweep with a super tiebreak win over her opponent (6–1, 2–6, [10–2]).

With this victory, UMSL improves its record to twelve wins and four losses overall—three wins without loss in conference play—while Maryville falls to five wins and six losses overall.

The Tritons will finish their regular season next Saturday when they travel to Springfield for a match against Illinois Springfield at eleven o’clock.
