UMSL women’s golf team in second after first day of GLVC Championship

The University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s golf team finished the first day of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship tournament in second place with a total score of 602, according to an April 17 update from the team.

The event, held at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Indiana, saw UMSL complete two rounds with consistent scores of 301 for each round. This result places them behind the University of Indianapolis, which leads with a score of 586.

Three Tritons players are currently ranked among the top ten individually. Hillary Currier and Wilma Zanderau are tied for fourth place after posting scores of 149 each over two rounds. Mayan Covarrubias is tied for eighth with a total score of 152. Other notable performances include Alaina Ervin, who is tied for thirteenth at 155, and Hope Williams, who is tied for fourteenth at 156. Emmy Wahl finished her day tied for thirty-first overall with a score of 160.

UIndy’s Ava Ray leads all individuals after two rounds with a total score of 139 and holds a five-shot advantage over teammate Paige Giovenco.

The final round of stroke play will begin Saturday morning at Rock Hollow Golf Club. The top four teams after this round will move on to Sunday’s match play championship to determine the GLVC champion.
