The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team swept Upper Iowa in a doubleheader on April 25 at the Escheid Softball Complex in Fayette, Iowa. The Tritons won by scores of 12-3 and 7-1, improving their record to 23-21 overall and 16-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Peacocks fell to 6-38 overall and 1-19 in conference play.

These wins are important for UMSL as they approach the end of their regular season, aiming to strengthen their position within the conference standings.

In game one, UMSL took an early lead when May Pasqualini walked and scored on a Kaytie Kossina double. Upper Iowa responded with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jamie Widule hit a grand slam home run for UMSL in the second inning, helping reclaim momentum for her team. Additional runs came from hits by Kossina, Kiley Sullivan, Phoebe Miller, Madison Rozanski, Gracie Philpot, and Maddie Illingworth throughout later innings. Ashley Borowitz pitched five scoreless innings in relief to earn her seventh win of the season.

Game two saw another strong start from UMSL with Miller driving home Widule for an early lead. The Tritons added more runs through key hits by Kossina and Sullivan while limiting Upper Iowa’s offense to just one run over seven innings pitched by Kenzie Stoltz. UMSL tallied fourteen hits during this contest.

The Tritons will conclude their road schedule with games at Quincy University on Sunday at noon at Mart Heinen Softball Complex.
