Ty Iechyd Da Distillery announced on April 14 the release of its official Centennial Spirits Line, created as the Official Spirit of the Route 66 Centennial. The distillery is introducing four products—bourbon, gin, vodka, and agave spirit—crafted to commemorate a century since the founding of Route 66.
The new spirits line includes “Birthplace of Route 66 Centennial Spirits” offered at 100 proof in honor of the centennial kickoff celebration from 1926 to 2026. These products will be available at all Ty Iechyd Da Distillery and Springfield Brewing Company locations as well as select local retailers. A special limited edition called “Ghost of the Colonial Hotel Centennial Blend” will be released on April 17 with only 752 bottles available at a higher proof. This blend pays tribute to a historic telegram sent from Springfield’s Colonial Hotel in April 1926 that contributed to launching Route 66.
Neil Chanter, co-owner of Ty Iechyd Da Distillery and Springfield Brewing Company, said, “Route 66 has always been about spirit, freedom, and exploration. The Mother Road is, itself, a representation of America striving to pursue something better, something different. Springfield should be rightly proud of this incredible history. And now, it’s time to CELEBRATE!”
Christina Chanter, co-owner of Ty Iechyd Da Distillery and Springfield Brewing Company added: “When we opened the distillery next door to our longstanding brewery, we wanted to contribute something truly unique to Springfield. For us, the opportunity to support both the Birthplace of Route 66 Centennial Celebration and the Ghost of the Colonial Hotel history and sculpture installation ‘fit the bill.’ We are able to celebrate this unique and special corner of the world that we are lucky enough to call home.”
Springfield maintains efforts in historic preservation including recognized landmarks such as those associated with Route 66 according to its official website. The city played an important role in establishing Route 66 through its public square as reported by city records. Additionally, Springfield operates under a council-manager form adopted in 1953 with policy set by a nine-member City Council according to local government sources.
Springfield was established in the early nineteenth century when John Polk Campbell donated land for development in what would become Greene County’s seat as noted by city documents. Today it continues focusing on ethical governance aimed at community benefits according to officials.
The release highlights how local businesses continue contributing both culturally and economically during major civic milestones such as this centennial celebration.
