Two residents of St. Charles County, Gua Liang Ye and De Jin Ye, both 56, have been indicted by a grand jury on charges related to harboring individuals in the United States illegally. The indictment alleges that they concealed these individuals with the knowledge that their presence in the country was unauthorized.
The arrests were made Tuesday by agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI. According to authorities, “A charge set forth in an indictment is merely an accusation and do not constitute proof of guilt. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty.”
If convicted, each faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine as high as $250,000, or both penalties. The investigation remains ongoing with Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI involved. Assistant U.S. Attorney Dianna Edwards is prosecuting the case.
