The University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s tennis team has earned the No. 4 seed in the Midwest Region for the NCAA Tournament, according to a May 4 announcement from the university.

This marks the first time since 2018 and the fourth time overall that UMSL’s women’s tennis program will compete in the national tournament. The Tritons, who qualified automatically under fifth-year head coach Megan Holdridge, are scheduled to face No. 5 seed Davenport on Friday, May 9 at 11 a.m. Central Daylight Time in Allendale, Michigan.

Grand Valley State University will host this portion of the regional bracket as the top seed and is set to play against the winner of UMSL and Davenport on Saturday, May 10 at GVSU Tennis Courts. The other half of the Midwest Region features No. 2 seed Findlay hosting No. 7 seed UIndy, while No. 6 Rockhurst faces off with No. 3 Ferris State.

The single-elimination tournament includes a total of forty-eight teams nationwide: twenty automatic qualifiers from conferences and twenty-eight at-large selections. Two teams from each region will move forward to compete at the NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis Championships scheduled for May 19-23 in Surprise, Arizona.

UMSL holds an overall record of fifteen wins and four losses this season and recently secured its first Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship by defeating UIndy with a score of four to two in Sunday’s title match.

The Tritons previously appeared in NCAA Tournaments in 2014, as well as qualifying again in both 2017 and 2018.
