ST. LOUIS – A man from Texas confessed to selling a substantial amount of illegal drugs to an undercover agent from the Drug Enforcement Administration. The individual, identified as Marco Chavira, not only admitted to selling 1.4 kilograms of methamphetamine but also providing an additional kilogram of cocaine to the agent for distribution.

Chavira, 35, from El Paso, Texas, acknowledged his actions in a hearing at the U.S. District Court in St. Louis. According to reports, Chavira believed the agent he met in El Paso was a courier who would transport the narcotics to cities like St. Louis and Chicago.

The court proceedings revealed that Chavira’s offense falls under one count of possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine. As a result of his guilty plea, Chavira is facing a mandatory minimum prison sentence of five years, which could extend up to a maximum of 40 years. Moreover, he may also be subject to a hefty fine of up to $5 million.

The investigation into this case was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Casey leading the prosecution. Chavira’s sentencing is scheduled for August 9, where the final repercussions of his illegal activities will be determined.
