Superior HealthPlan announced on April 23 that its employees volunteered a total of 3,098 hours with 128 nonprofit organizations across Texas in 2025. In addition to their time, employees donated more than $130,000 to various causes, including $14,000 directed toward recovery efforts after the July 2025 floods in Central Texas.
The company said these efforts support communities facing challenges related to education, food security, and housing. Superior HealthPlan President and CEO Mitch Wasden said, “Serving Texans in need has been central to Superior HealthPlan’s mission since 1999. Volunteering more than 3,000 hours represents more than just time; it demonstrates our shared commitment to strengthening the communities where we all live and work. I’m proud to work alongside so many people who are dedicated to supporting their neighbors in need.”
Employees participate through several programs offered by the company. All full-time staff receive eight hours of paid time off annually for volunteering at nonprofits of their choice. A volunteer platform launched in 2024 helps connect employees with service opportunities and enables direct donations.
During declared emergencies such as natural disasters, Superior offers additional paid time off for staff involved in critical community response programs. In partnership with The Centene Foundation, the company increased its donation matching program up to $1,000 per employee each year starting in 2026.
Superior HealthPlan has operated for over two decades and now provides health care services for more than 1.5 million Texans across all counties through a workforce of about 3,600 people statewide. Since 2020, the organization reports contributing $12.3 million through grants and charitable giving aimed at supporting low-income communities.
