U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) responded to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s decision to name Kansas City, Missouri, as one of its five new relocation hubs. The move is part of a broader USDA plan aimed at consolidating and optimizing departmental functions.

In a statement released today, Senator Schmitt said, “Today’s announcement is a major victory for Kansas City, the State of Missouri, and the farmers and ranchers who have been left behind by D.C.’s out-of-touch bureaucracy. I’ve long believed that the federal government functions best when it’s grounded in reality—not confined to the D.C. bubble. It’s long past time we reconnect USDA’s decision makers with the farmers and ranchers they serve. Kansas City, which sits in the heartland of America and already houses key USDA offices, is a great place for this relocation.”

The USDA’s plan to establish these hubs seeks to bring agency leadership closer to agricultural communities and improve operational efficiency.
