U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) attended a White House ceremony marking the signing of a rescissions package that he led through the Senate. The legislation aims to cut $9 billion in federal spending, shift foreign policy initiatives to focus on American interests, and end taxpayer funding for NPR and PBS.
Following the event, Senator Schmitt released a statement highlighting the significance of the new law. “President Trump promised to cut waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government and restore fiscal responsibility and discipline. He is delivering on the promise. The rescissions package President Trump signed into law eliminates $9 billion in wasteful spending, defunds foreign policy initiatives that do no serve American interests, and ends taxpayer funding for NPR and PBS, which serve as mouthpieces for the left’s radical ideas. American taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to fund woke foreign aid or captured media institutions; their tax dollars should go to improving our nation and advancing American interests. I was proud to lead the rescissions package through the Senate and applaud President Trump for his leadership and commitment to safeguarding taxpayer dollars,” said Senator Schmitt.
The Senate passed the measure last week under Schmitt's leadership.
