U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, highlighted several provisions in the recently enacted One Big Beautiful Bill that are aimed at bolstering Missouri’s defense sector and enhancing military readiness nationally and internationally.
Schmitt pointed to Whiteman Air Force Base as a central asset in Missouri’s contribution to U.S. defense. The base is home to B-2 Spirit bombers, which were involved in strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities. He stated, “As home to Whiteman Air Force Base, which houses the B-2 spirit bombers that carried out the highly successful strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities, Missouri plays a crucial role in the defense capabilities and military readiness of the United States. The provisions secured in the One Big Beautiful Bill are strategic investments that will modernize and strengthen our state’s defense industrial base, military installations, and national security capabilities – both at home and abroad.”
The legislation was signed into law on July 4th, 2025.
