A Kansas City, Missouri man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for illegal possession of a firearm. Malik Holman, 27, faces one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The indictment follows a criminal complaint that was filed on September 5, 2025.
Court documents state that on September 4, 2025, detectives from the Kansas City Missouri Police Department saw Holman with a firearm. Officers detained him, found the handgun, and arrested him for illegal possession. Holman had met his state parole officer earlier that day.
Federal law prohibits anyone convicted of a felony from possessing firearms or ammunition. Holman has previously been convicted of robbery.
“The charges contained in this indictment are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.”
Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Siegele is prosecuting the case. The investigation was conducted by the Kansas City Missouri Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The case falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice focused on combating illegal immigration and violent crime through coordinated efforts with programs such as the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
