Ahead of the Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday, Brad Jones, NFIB State Director, is urging Missourians to support small businesses. The sales tax holiday starts on Friday, August 1, and lasts through the weekend.
"Main Street is the foundation of our economy, creating good-paying jobs, meeting customers’ needs, and keeping our communities thriving," said Jones. "Every purchase made at a small business supports the Missouri economy. And during the tax-free holiday, your hard-earned dollars go even further. It’s a small way to make a big difference here at home."
The Missouri Department of Revenue states that the 2025 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday begins at 12:01 AM CT on Friday, August 1, and ends on Sunday, August 3. This year’s holiday exempts all state and local sales or use taxes during this period on qualifying items. Previously only state and some local taxes were exempt; however, Senate Bill 153 now exempts all local sales and use taxes on qualifying items.
