In a notable development for Downtown St. Louis, the Gateway Arch Park Foundation has finalized the acquisition of the 4.2-acre Millennium Hotel property. This purchase marks a significant step in returning the site to active civic use after years of vacancy. The Foundation has partnered with The Cordish Companies for a $670 million redevelopment project that will introduce 1.3 million square feet of residential, office, commercial, and cultural spaces.
Ryan McClure, Executive Director of Gateway Arch Park Foundation, stated that this project supports their mission "to help Gateway Arch National Park and surrounding areas in Downtown St. Louis thrive and to reconnect our city with our riverfront… When we work together, St. Louis reaches its greatest potential."
The milestone is part of efforts to revitalize Downtown St. Louis as outlined in the STL 2030 Jobs Plan. Dustin Allison, Interim CEO of Greater St. Louis, Inc., commented on the significance of this achievement: “Today’s closing is a significant moment for Downtown St. Louis and our region’s national image,” he said. “Transforming this site into a destination that celebrates our location and our people is a major step forward."
