A Cape Girardeau man, Danaje Raymond Webster, 24, has pleaded guilty to stealing a firearm from a licensed dealer. The admission took place in the U.S. District Court in Cape Girardeau. His co-defendant, Dayvion Jyraud Parker, 21, had already pleaded guilty to multiple felonies in October 2024.

Both individuals admitted to the theft of a Sig Sauer 9mm pistol on June 17, 2024, from a federally licensed firearm dealer in Cape Girardeau County. Webster removed the pistol from display and handed it to Parker, who concealed it under his jacket before passing it back to Webster for further concealment.

The incident was captured on surveillance video after store employees noticed the missing firearm. On June 25, law enforcement officers discovered Parker with two pistols equipped with auto sears during a search of a home in Cape Girardeau.

Webster is due for sentencing on September 30 and faces up to five years in prison for the theft charge. Parker received a sentence of 70 months in March.

The investigation involved several agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the U.S. Marshals Service; and the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy Willis is leading the prosecution.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by uniting various levels of law enforcement with community efforts. The Department launched an enhanced strategy for PSN on May 26, 2021.
