A Missouri Lottery player recently secured a $50,000 prize by playing a combination of sentimental numbers in the June 14 Powerball drawing. The winning ticket matched four out of five white-ball numbers and the Powerball number. The numbers drawn were 4, 6, 9, 23, and 59, with a Powerball of 25.
The winner discovered his fortune while visiting Price Chopper at 501 Schug Ave. in Peculiar. Upon checking his ticket, he was prompted to visit the lottery office. "I took the ticket to the lady in the office at Price Chopper," said the winner. "After she checked the numbers, she whispered, 'You won big. Sign the ticket!'"
In disbelief, he shared the news with his wife who responded with laughter: "After all these years!"
Powerball is a multi-state game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. The upcoming Saturday jackpot is estimated at $155 million.
